Grammapedagology, 2009
software, video, projection / variable dimensions
Grammapedagology is a dynamic video software project that erratically vocalizes each letter of a text file as a phoneme and pairs it with a corresponding image that is often used in elementary phonetic instruction. The text file (appropriately named readme.txt) is a list of common animals, which suggest a certain edenic connection to names as unique ruptures within language. Grammapedogology interrogates the default or “normalized” pedagogy of early language acquisition and attempts to subvert those assumed linguistics norms. The project synchronizes visual and auditory signification into a quirky, functionally useless, but conceptually challenging experience.
